It’s the first rehearsal of the new season. The conductor aims to build on last year’s success, but the cello section is incomplete…

In the interactive theatre piece “Symphony,” three actors, along with the audience, find themselves in an orchestra rehearsal. Instrument groups are formed, and together they play Mozart’s Symphony No. 40. What starts as a simple activity gradually uncovers deeper issues of bullying and (racial) discrimination.  Who belongs, and who is left out? Who has a say and who doesn’t? Do we need more solidarity? When should we stand up?

Sixty digital string instruments set the stage for this piece, highlighting power dynamics and discriminatory structures.

Note (for educators): During the performance, the audience will be provided with digital string instruments. No musical experience is necessary to participate.  Due to its interactive format, this piece is especially suitable for groups with little or no experience in theatre.
